London-based production duo IDEMI debut on Moody Disco Records. The kaleidoscopic four-track ‘Transmission’ EP arrives on the newly-minted label in late September.
British-Chinese DJs and producers Rhett and Conran Lee have already proven their writing chops under their Twin Lee moniker by working with some of the biggest dance artists in the world, from John Summit to Solardo and Sonny Fodera.
Their new production outfit IDEMI finds them branch out alone with an innovative underground sound that draws from all across the house, techno and disco spectrum. The London duo’s latest venture sees a trip to the newly minted Moody Disco Records, which launched earlier this year to widespread acclaim, having garnered support from key tastemakers such as Jamie Jones, Max Dean and BBC Radio 1’s Danny Howard.
Opener ‘Transmission’ is a heady electronic cut with bright melodic sequences pulsing throughout the mix. Spoken words add a cinematic ambience to this captivating track before switching into a groove-filled bassline drop.
Next up, ‘Vibrations’ offers up a subtle but compelling sense of bounce to the tightly coiled drum funk. The widescreen synths are painterly in style and leave long tails that hang in the air in gorgeous fashion.
On the flip, the stylish ‘Ain’t Nothin’ Ordinary’ will get dancers on their toes with the dusty, shuffling drum rotations and floating basslines next to celestial chord work and rough cut vocal touches up top before ‘Solar’ closes out proceedings with a blissed-out groove doused in reverential chords and wispy night-sky keys that ooze class and soul.
IDEMI ‘Transmission’ EP drops via Moody Disco Records on 27th September 2024.
