They say two heads are better than one and whilst we’re not quite sure who ‘they’ are one thing we do know is that their logic is certainly sound and seemingly amplified when doubled to create the awesome foursome that constitute Irish electronica outfit Le Galaxie.
Yes, this week we turned to the Emerald Isle to nab the considerable talents of one of our favourite emerging bands to deliver this weeks exclusive podcast mix. Riding high after a stellar 2013 which included rocking crowds across their native land at esteemed festivals such as Forbidden Fruit, Longitude and a legendary Sunday midnight show at Electric Picnic before similarly impressing in some of the countries most illustrious venues with an open-air 3D oracular spectacular in Dublin’s Meeting House Square and finishing with a sold-out show in the country’s finest venue, the Olympia Theatre the future looks bright indeed for Le Galaxie.
Having conquered Ireland they’ve now they’ve set their sights on Europe, but how did they get to where they are today? Allow DT to fill you in. 2011 saw the release of their debut album Laserdisc Nights II which was followed the year after by the release of the evocative, synth-soacked Fade 2 Forever EP which scored them their biggest hit thus far and firmly marked them out as one to watch. Now they’re back with new ex-DFA guru and Holy Ghost, Classixxx and Hercules & The Love Affair producer Eric Broucek produced single ‘Humanise’ which appears set to announce their arrival on the international stage. In short Le Galaxie are an act we’ve had an eye on for a while and considering we think this is the year they live up to their true potential both as a live act and recording artists as they appear set take this summers festival season by storm with hotly anticipated performances scheduled at the likes of Secret Garden Party and Nozstock we thought now was the perfect time to invite them to provide us with an exclusive mix for your listening delights. Blazing a neon trail across the landscape of electronic music this is the ideal mix to get you in the festival mood. Check it out below!
Sum up this podcast in 10 words…
PLEASE DON’T SNORT THAT WASHING POWDER LISTEN TO THIS INSTEAD
What’s your personal favourite track on it? The VIP Edit of Dirty Super Car. It’s a legitimately insane peice of music. The song should be sectioned. We played it for at mate of ours at a Christmas Party and he exclaimed ‘this is the greatest song I’ve ever heard’ after about 60 seconds. What’s the special ingredient in this mix? It’s banging but there’s melody there. Lots of it. That’s the Le Galaxie ethos. What’s the best gig you’ve played recently? Probably Club NME in Koko, London. Lots of Le Galaxie fans but even more Le Galaxie strangers who went with it from beat one. We had to be ordered off that stage by gunpoint. What have you got coming up? A mini UK tour starting at Secret Garden Party on 26th July, then off to Hoxton Bar & Grill for a London show Tuesday 29th, Sticky Mike’s Brighton 30th, Soup Kitchen Manchester 31st and then Nozstock 1st August. And finally, do you have a special message for our readers? Imagine Ryan Gosling riding through LA in Drive with Miley Cyrus going bananas in the boot. That’s Le Galaxie.
