All over the world, the name
Awakenings is synonymous with uncompromising class and quality in house and techno. For 20 years, the Dutch festival and party series has defined sounds, launched careers, and been a pillar of the underground dance music community. This
Labor Day Weekend, Awakenings – fresh off another wildly successful
Awakenings Festival in the Netherlands-makes a monumental return to
New York City for
Electric Zoo: The 6th Boro with an exquisitely curated selection of artists who’ve all left their own mark on dance music over the years.
“We are really honored to have Awakenings back at Electric Zoo. This year’s line-up is so special that we’ve decided to give techno fans a bigger and better stage in a new location. The amazing energy of Awakenings will surely make The 6th Boro even more special!” – Michael Julian, Chief Marketing Officer of Made Event.
“We are happy to be back in the USA with 3 days of the Awakenings stage at Electric Zoo: The 6th Boro! We have a legendary line-up, bigger and better stage and special production. Now we can’t wait for the techno tourists from all over the world to come and party with us in one of my favorite places on Earth – New York City!” – Rocco Veenboer, Founder of Awakenings.

The historic event begins on Friday, September 1 with the reunion of Sasha & John Digweed, a momentous occasion that reunites two true heroes of dance. The legendary duo-who held a residency at storied NYC club Twilo in their formative years-are returning to their old stomping grounds for the first time in a decade. Joining the very special guests will be Berlin’s own champion of melodic techno Paul Kalkbrenner and rising Russian DJ star Julia Govor.
On Saturday, September 2, the Awakenings stage brings more heat than a late summer NYC heatwave, with Dirtybird head honcho Claude Vonstroke laying down his robust West Coast house style. New York CIty underground icons Danny Tenaglia and Victor Calderone will shower The 6th Boro with soulful house and techno energy respectively, while Minus imprint heavyweight Gaiser will keep proceedings appropriately dark and NYC staple Boris will round out the day’s lineup.
Sunday, September 3‘s programming climaxes with the hottest name in the underground Innervisions label founder and Resident Advisor’s Top DJ Poll #1 spot holder-Dixon. The German maestro will headline the Awakenings Stage with a three-hour set that will undoubtedly be bold, colorful, epic, and full of emotion. Joining Dixon is Innervisions family member Henrik Schwarz with a highly anticipated live set, and Anjunadeep favorite Yotto. Keep your ears peeled for more Awakenings lineup announcements because there are still a couple of surprises yet to be revealed.
