Renegade Riddims: Ruth Royall
Share
After 24 months of steady releases, consistent international radio play, over 10 million DSP streams and 2 nominations for the best vocalist at the Drum & Bass Awards, Ruth Royall has cemented her place within the music industry’s electronic dance music scene.
Working with all the major Drum & Bass labels including Hospital, Shogun and Metalheadz and with huge collaborations and exciting projects including Mollie Collins, Grafix, Pola & Bryson, Ekko & Sidetrack, along with her work within Paper Dragon, her profile continues to grow with even more high-profile collaborations in progress and exciting releases on the horizon.
With recent guest mixes on Kiss FM a Shogun Audio stream supporting DJ Marky and Technimatic and her regular radio show on SWU.fm Ruth is reaching new audiences as a DJ and Host, alongside her talent as a producer, songwriter and vocalist she never stops delivering high-quality music to the masses!
I am absolutely buzzing to be bringing Ruth Royall to our Renegade Riddims series with a very special mix with her both on the decks and vocals. She has also recorded it not only as an audio mix but as a visual stream too.
I’ve been following her movements for the last couple of years and have loved working with her on her #keepitreal campaign and also the work she’s been doing as part of Paper Dragon and I am immensely proud of her recent accomplishments. There’s no doubt at all that we will be seeing more and more of her over the coming years.
Check out Ruth Royall’s mix below. It contains music from the likes of herself and Paper Dragon, Origin8a & Propa, Dynamite MC & Danny Byrd, Benny Page, Blaine Stranger, Euphonique, Fred V & Grafix and loads more and is available as a free download here!
Q&A:
Sum up this mix in 10 words…
This mix is soul heavy and full of sweet gospel vocals.
What’s your personal favourite track on it?
I’m still completely obsessed with ‘Last Goodbye’ by Break & Celestine. It just makes me bounce.
What’s the special ingredient in this mix?
The special ingredient to this mix is my vocals! Giving that RR remix to every track
Tell us about your next EP?
My latest single ‘New Ride’ is about new beginnings and taking a risk. I wanted it to be uplifting and just make you want to party. I love singing it live and it’s so much fun to play out.
What have you got coming up?
I’ve got so much new music coming out this year! I’ve been venturing into the world of production and it’s so exciting to be able to share some of my work with everyone this year. My next solo single is out in July and I can’t wait for you to hear it! I’ve also got loads of shows this year, you can catch me at Love Saves The Day, Hospitality on the Beach and in the Woods. And I’m even hosting a whole stage at Glastonbury where we’ll be curating some amazing female artists from across the dance scene.
When was the last time you actually raved?
The last time I raved was at the Steel Yard where I was supporting the mighty Metrik. It was such an awesome vibe. Drum and bass is a proper family and that night was giving pure family vibes, it was lush.
And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?
My special message would be, to keep showing each other new music because people who introduce you to your new favourite artist are important.
