Subdue Audio set to drop ‘SUB:CONSCIOUS VOL.1 REMIX COLLECTION’

Share

After topping the Juno album charts with their first ‘SUB:CULTURE’ series release, Subdue Audio decided that one inaugural VA this year wasn’t enough. They’ve enlisted eight heavy hitters for remix duties, pushing their mission to blur the lines between subgenres in the first volume of their ‘SUB:CONSCIOUS’ series.

True to their roots, they deliver a selection of adaptive jungle cuts. Conrad Subs brings a new school twist to Che Mac’s 90s throwback ‘Jungle Music’, adding fresh flavour while keeping those big 808s and amens intact.

Kublai strips back Edan & Berrow’s ‘Always Tired’, rolling out emotive vocal samples and atmospheric synths over crunchy breaks and booming sub, injecting some serious funk. Samurai Breaks makes a standout contribution, flipping Brasstax’s ‘Stitch Up’ into a grimey, bass-infested array of his trademark breaks and chops.

Subdue Audio continues to represent the minimal style in various forms. Dunk, the minimal maestro himself, pushes the subgenre’s boundaries with fresh breaks on APOM’s ‘Koto’, using iconic samples and a massive saturated sub that will cause carnage on any sound system. Label friend and jump-up stalwart Harley D dives into a darker sound with his spin on Sam Pyro’s ‘Overtime’, featuring brute distortion rolling into crispy minimal breaks and his signature bass flipping the track sideways.

Invadhertz, a duo known for soulful vibes, take things darker with roaring amens and a wild bassline on their take of TLZ’s ‘Back Again’, blending minimal and jump-up with Madrush MC‘s signature vocals. Subdue adds his thumping take on Ratso’s ‘Give You’, upping the pace with fast, crisp drums for some huge techy roller vibes. The final track sees Teej, another close label ally, join the fray with his take on Harley D & Empt’s ‘Don’t You Ever’, a moody, rave-ready heavy hitter showcasing next-gen sound design.

This is a fine selection and a strong statement from Subdue Audio.
