Altitude ‘Hurt You’ [In-Reach Records]

With releases on labels such as Good Looking Records, Warm Communications and Fokuz Recordings, it’s fairly clear that Dubai based producer Altitude has an aptitude for deep Drum & Bass. For IRR-008, ‘Elemental’ EP, Altitude solidifies this statement even further with three pieces of exciting, forward-thinking music that the team at In-Reach Records can’t wait to share with the world!

First up is ‘Elemental’, whose main attraction comes in the form of a bouncing bass drum that’s perfectly matched by the positive energy of the keys and synths. The catchy vocal is the icing on the cake and also very accurate; this one definitely is “so good”. 

‘Hurt You’ kicks off with a mellow intro filled with relaxing tones, which soon give way to exceedingly deep sub-bass that engulfs the dulled snares and tentative hats. Injections of pace in the drums, coupled with a bass line alteration after the breakdown give this one an exciting air of unpredictability. 

For the final track, the tone begins to slow as rugged analogue drums meet growling electronic mids on ‘Twilight’. The backdrop of the ever-present sub-bass takes this track to a deeper level, which deserves to be enjoyed on a high-end system.

The high level of production quality and musicality that is maintained across a range of somewhat experimental elements in these tracks has got us sufficiently hyped for this release.
