Saffron is known for keeping the crowd going into the early hours of the morning and is becoming renowned for her high energy sets, mixing innovative with classics.
We asked Saffron to tell us about 5 tracks that have influenced her style and sound.
“Growing up I was immersed in house music and started playing on the decks from the age of 2! I was surrounded by all types of music from Stevie Wonder to Soul to Soul. As teenagers, my best friend Monika and I grew a love for melodic techno by the likes of Mano Le Tough, Tale of Us, Maceo Plex and Solomun. We would go to all the raves in London and stay out till the bitter end. I then progressed onto techno, went to Awakenings and lost my mind. Listening to Adam Beyer and Amelie Lens.
ADE in Amsterdam was a great experience and I went to the mighty Gashouder to see Drumcode. The production was off key and there were fireworks inside the venue. These sounds and this music have shaped me into the artist that I am today and my style of music, tech/jacking house which is typically a more energetic and faster form of house normally falling in the 126 to 130 BPM range but it can contain deeper and moodier elements as well. “
‘Club Lonely’ – Lil Louis
It’s a track I’ve been brought up listening to ever since I can remember. It feels like it was the first house track that resonated with me and got me excited.
‘My Love Is Deep’ – Sara Parker
The same for this tune. When my dad was teaching me how to play vinyl, I came across this tune and my ears fell in love. It’s jumpy, fast and house.
‘U Got Me’ – Lee Foss
As I started to get into my music more, I listened to a lot of Lee Foss in my teens and ‘U Got Me’ was one of those tracks I would play at every party and after-party, it just makes me feel a type of way.
‘Aguirre’ – Mano Le Tough Remix
Just a beautiful melodic techno track which I remember playing a lot when I first started DJ-ing.
‘The Drums’ – Richy Ahmed
When I started going raving this was a tune I would always want to hear and I played it out a lot. It started my love for tech house.
