Tief at Corsica is always a highly anticipated event, having an instinctive ear for the best kept secrets of underground music. This time they were joined by, The Mole, Arttu’s live set, Bradley Zero and the Tief residents, with Prosumer modestly sitting on top.
The Tief residents managed to set the mood very accurately, playing percussion driven house grooves which welcomed clubbers onto the dance floor before having a chance to head to the bar. Playing vinyl only, it was a glimpse of how the night would continue. A few hours after midnight had struck, the dance floor was packed with a crowd full of smiles, which only got bigger when Prosumer’s ‘Forever’ mix was teased in, sending drinks towards the sky alongside an uproar.
After a brief pause, it was visible that the Mole had taken the stage. A darker tone could be sensed while he opened with a Trevino record. The crowd had to assume a different stance after previously being showered by soulful female vocals with the Mole taking them deeper. As the set built onwards, the previously loud crowd seemed to be hypnotized by the cavernous techno they were now hearing. That was until the words ‘I came into the world naked, and I intend on leaving the same way’ echoed throughout room 1, the phrase followed by the sound of heavily compressed drums and the crowd receiving very well, marching away shoulder to shoulder all the way through until the Mole had finished what he had to offer.
Prosumer was then visible on stage, prepping up case full of wax, which was followed moments later with iconic synth stabs after the reins were handed to him by the Mole. The opening song contained samples of bird calls which soothed the crowd as if the night were starting again and they were to start their journey with him. Within a few tracks he had introduced his first vocal track synonymous with his track lists and by now the crowd had synchronised their dancing with the bob of the Disk Jockeys head. Throughout the night, his focus was on the track playing and what’s going to come next, occasionally taking the odd moment out to smile at the crowd. His ethereal presence was outshone only by the single light bulb present in the booth, which revealed him singing along to each vocal track. The crowd were wary of him as he dug through his record box, knowing that he has a gift for taking each track to a new level, song after song. Flicking through his rolodex of records for mere seconds before unleashing the next bomb on the dancefloor.
The main bulk of the crowd did not thin throughout the whole night, and managed to be of high spirits during the entirety of the event. Tief events have a natural habit of attracting the right educated crowd and with many nights planned ahead, do not seem like they are slacking one bit.
