After a massive set at Rampage this summer, Belgian Drum & Bass maestro Basstripper has officially dropped his crowd-favourite banger, ‘Time To Go.’ This track has already been shaking sound systems around the globe all year and is quickly becoming a staple in the scene.

Basstripper, known off-stage as Jeroen Stevens, has been steadily climbing the ranks in the Drum & Bass world. Hailing from Leuven, Belgium, he’s made a name for himself with his relentless energy and cutting-edge productions. Basstripper initially started as a DJ, honing his craft in the underground scenes of Belgium, before stepping into production, where he truly began to shine.

‘Time To Go’ is a prime example of Basstripper’s signature style, blending unique soundscapes with powerful basslines that hit hard. It’s no wonder this track has gained so much support—it follows in the footsteps of his previous hits, like last summer’s viral sensation, ‘In The City’, which solidified him as a key player in the contemporary bass music scene.

Basstripper’s rise hasn’t been by chance. His dedication to the craft is evident in every release, and his relentless work ethic has led him to collaborate with some of the biggest names in the industry. Over the years, he’s shared the stage with heavyweights like Andy C, Wilkinson, and Sub Focus, and his sets are known for their high energy and seamless mixing, often leaving crowds in awe.

Basstripper’s been on a roll, supporting big names like Bou and B-Live during their Australian tour last November. He’s also been flexing his remix skills, reworking Netsky’s ‘Hell in High Heels’ at the end of 2023, and more recently, dropping a remix of Friction’s ‘Supersonic’ this January. His DNB Allstars release, ‘Hazmat / Deserted,’ is still making waves on the DJ circuit, further proving his ability to craft tracks that are in high demand.

Beyond his work behind the decks and in the studio, Basstripper is also deeply connected to the community. He’s been an advocate for the local scene in Belgium, often mentoring up-and-coming producers and DJs, helping to foster the next generation of talent.

‘Time To Go’ perfectly encapsulates Basstripper’s fresh, lively sound, featuring drilling basslines, crisp snares, and tight drum programming. The track’s powerful breaks and twisted synths are engineered for maximum dancefloor impact, while the edgy vocals add just the right amount of attitude.

With this latest release, Basstripper continues to push boundaries, and it’s clear he’s just getting started. Expect more fire from him in the near future—this is only the beginning. Keep an eye out for his upcoming projects, as he’s set to leave an even bigger mark on the global drum and bass landscape.

Drum & Bass imprint RAM Records is fast approaching its 30th birthday and after being one of the genre’s foundational labels it’s a platform which is continuing to innovate. With a history which features Mercury Prize nominations, UK Chart positions and Platinum Records, it’s not only a genre giant but also a mainstay label within the archives of British music. To mark 30 years in the game, RAM will be taking to Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London for OrchestRAM between Thursday 8th September and Saturday 10th September for a very special orchestral rendition of the RAM Records catalogue.

Over the three days, Guildhall School’s team will be performing 90 minutes of music and orchestral arrangements, featuring Guildhall Session Orchestra, the School’s professional alumni ensemble. Through hybrid sound, some of the label’s classic records, as well as its more contemporary offerings, will be on full display through the amplified accompaniment of the School’s Electronic and Produced Music Department, as well as extraordinary visuals and staging by the Production Arts department. From figures like label founder Andy C, DJ Fresh, RAM Trilogy, Chase & Status, Sub Focus, Origin Unknown and Wilkinson, through to the transitional tracks of RAM’s output in the 90s, including its stadium-led, vocal Drum & Bass and its foundational records, RAM has been there to release the genre’s every flavour. This is something which Guildhall School will endeavour to take its audience through as each track plays out on their stage. In a format which they’ve never been heard in before.

Combining both classical and contemporary sounds with lasers and projection to create a truly stunning immersive musical event, concertgoers will be able to witness what happens when one of the world’s leading arts training institutions celebrates the 30th birthday of a seminal electronic music label. With 35 players, percussionists, vocalists and DJs, alongside lights, lasers and projection mapping (as seen through Guildhall School’s involvement with Glastonbury’s stages), fans will be able to see their favourite tracks adapted into a new classical format for orchestral performance.

The project developed by Guildhall Live Events and overseen by RAM Records will include 30 of the artists from RAM’s portfolio. Guildhall School is a world-renowned institution for training in music, drama and production arts, and itself year on year produces some of the most talented early career musicians, technicians and artists.

The state-of-the-art, concert hall located in Milton Court, is the perfect venue for classical and contemporary music performances, where RAM will take centre stage this September.

The scene standard has been maintained for three decades and RAM’s influence has seeped into the wider music culture ever since the label was first launched – always setting a notoriously high benchmark. Another milestone now sits under the label’s belt; with major player support from the likes of BMG, the next ten years from RAM Records is looking to be just as significant as the last 30. RAM continue to demonstrate just how important the label has been for the genre, as it’s grown over a lifetime of music releases which are now set to be showcased by one of the world’s leading arts institutions.

More info and tickets (which are running VERY low) for OrchestRAM can be found here

Two years feels like a long time. After a hiatus this long, through no fault of their own, the renowned Warehouse Project in Manchester made their iconic return to the city. Located in the sprawling Depot Mayfield, Data Transmission headed to their first WHP Drum & Bass event of 2021- Metropolis.

With the hint of summer still lingering in the air, revellers made their way to the disused railway station from all corners of the country, making the most out of the last bit of warmth of the year in their edgy festival wear and sunnies before Autumn closes in.

As we made our way towards the depot, masses lingered around the entrance queues with excitement. With a capacity of 16,000, Warehouse Project has to be one of the largest arenas in the UK for raves and we couldn’t wait to get our teeth stuck in. With a bill featuring some of the biggest names in Drum & Bass at the moment, we were intrigued to see how the acts would transform summer festival sets into indoor arena performances.

Made up of three separate rooms, Warehouse Project consists of the Depot (the largest room), Concourse (middle room) and Archive (the smallest room) which all have unique characters of their own. We headed towards Archive for our first set of the night- Technimatic b2b LSB. Easing ourselves in gently, the soothing liquid melodies danced around the intimate setting, with LSB’s remix of Culture Shock’s ‘There For You’ illuminating the set. The Archive stage is also reminiscent of the main room at Warehouse Project’s old location, Store Street, which admittedly I do kind of miss at times despite how much I love Depot Mayfield, so it felt right to start our night there.

Before I went to the event, I’d already decided in my head who I’d wanted to see: Wilkinson, Sub Focus and Andy C, but upon arrival, we decided to switch it up and try catching some new sets for a change as we’d seen all of these three before. As we headed over to Kanine over at Concourse I said: “We’ll just stay for half an hour and then go back to Wilkinson”, and the next thing I knew, we’d watched the whole of Kanine’s set!

Concourse is my favourite room out of the three; it feels electric and intimate as the audience wrap themselves around the DJ booth and can get up close and personal with the artist. Kanine had the crowd eating out of the palm of his hand as he absolutely ripped through his set with the best drops and
unexpected remixes; he was hands down my highlight act of the night.

Swiftly making our way to The Depot to catch the beginning of Sub Focus’ set, this was a completely different vibe to when I saw him perform at The One in the Woods festival (read the review here). From playing to around a thousand and now to 16,000, I felt blessed that I had been able to catch himself and MC ID in such an intimate setting only months before. Tearing through his latest ‘Reworks’ album as the strobes flashed throughout the vast space, I felt a sense of euphoria and had to pinch myself that events on this scale are actually back- it felt unreal!

We kept our feet firmly planted in the same spot for Andy C, and even though we told ourselves we wouldn’t, for SASASAS too. For the first Drum & Bass Warehouse Project back in two years, it felt incredible to be back and the moral of THIS story is…

Go and watch acts you’ve never seen before!
