Step Into the Unknown: Chizawa Q’s Xenoverse Album Lands on R&S Records

Share

At Data Transmission, we’re all about artists who aren’t afraid to rewrite the rulebook. And Chizawa Q? He’s done just that with Xenoverse.

Dropping November 22 on the legendary R&S Records, this debut album is a mind-blowing journey through techno, jazz, and electronic beats, all wrapped up in a cinematic sci-fi vibe.

Born in Yokohama, Japan, Chizawa recorded Xenoverse right by Tokyo Bay, and you can feel that sense of place in every track. It’s a love letter to his roots and a futuristic soundscape inspired by Detroit techno legends like Underground Resistance, Kenny Larkin, and Carl Craig, fused with the European jazz-techno magic of Vince Watson and Dave Angel.

Chizawa calls it “a soundtrack to a universe not yet born,” and honestly, that checks out. This isn’t just an album—it’s a fully immersive trip. Tracks like “Beluga” and “Black Nebula,” which teased us earlier this year, set the stage for a ten-track epic that’s equal parts dance floor weaponry and headphone escapism.

And the collaborators? Absolute fire. Tokyo drum ‘n’ bass legend Makoto Shimizu steps in with a remix, while Masaki Sakamoto, Kowalewski, and Dan Samsa add their own flair. It’s a record that bridges the gap between deep, driving techno and experimental electronica, creating something fresh, vibrant, and totally unique.

The buzz is real, too. Big hitters like Laurent Garnier, Josh Wink, Dave Clarke, and LTJ Bukem are already singing its praises, with plays on BBC Radio to match. For Chizawa Q, landing on R&S—a label with a legacy of spotlighting Japanese artists like Ken Ishii—is a milestone, and Xenoverse is set to live up to that legacy.

Mark your calendars: Xenoverse drops November 22 on R&S Records. Whether you’re a techno head, a jazz nerd, or just love the sound of bold, boundary-pushing music, this one’s a must-hear.

Chizawa Q is about to take you somewhere you’ve never been before.

Buckle up.

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
