Azzecca’s Top Tracks for Warming up a Crowd

Share

Chicago’s Azzecca is one of the hottest names bubbling up right now. She blasted onto the scene with her debut release, ‘I’ve Been Waiting’ (on Higher Ground) in the summer; it’s nearly hit half a million streams on Spotify alone already and has since been remixed by Ida Engberg. Her latest EP ‘Other Side’ also on Higher Ground is heading for similar success, so she’s one to watch for next year.

The producer, aka Allie DeCastris, has just played a smashing set at ARC Festival in her hometown, but is in London this coming weekend, crossing two epic venues of her hit list, Printworks and fabric, for Gorgon City’s REALM takeover parties. She’ll be opening at both and bringing some absolute heaters to kick off both. We got her to share some of her favourite warm-up weapons to get you ready for the weekend.

Catch Azzecca this weekend at Printworks on Saturday (https://ra.co/events/1569983) and fabric on Sunday (https://www.fabriclondon.com/event/gorgon-city-present-realm) and listen to the whole playlist on Spotify.

Vision Of Love – Bicep

What’s not to love about an old Bicep? It’s the perfect feel-good dance song, and the more headsy people in the crowd appreciate the bit of nostalgia.

Tra-La-La-La-La – Diss-Cuss

This song is very cheeky and a nice way to grab the crowd’s attention without playing anything too big. I actually made my own edit of this song that repeats the vocal more frequently. It always goes off.

Cinecittá – Carlita, DJ Tennis, Alex Metric

This is a new go-to for me in my warmup sets. It’s nice and melodic but keeps the energy high.

Bliss – Coeo

Acid, piano, breaks… what more could you ask for? This song has everything you need to get people moving.

Other Side – Azzecca

Shameless self-plug. Really though, whether it’s peak time or a warmup set, ‘Other Side’ always gets the crowd involved. It works just the same outside during the day as it does at 1am in a warehouse.

Need U More – Azzecca

I made this song because I always feel like I need more sure-thing house tracks. It’s a good one to have in your playlist regardless of your set time and the crowd always responds well.

Loving – Cromby

This is a quirky, fun, danceable song. It is what I call a slow-burner and takes about five minutes to get to the fun part but It’s really satisfying to play it out.

On the Run – Audiojack

I love playing this song in my warmup sets. It’s dark and funky.

Amnocairn – Ewan McVicar

Another slow-burner. The drop about four minutes in is so good.

Briket – Keeld

I love this song because it almost feels like peak-time but doesn’t quite go all the way. There’s a really dramatic build with a held-back but satisfying drop which makes it cool for earlier sets.

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
