Get ready to celebrate music, legends, and community as Mucky Weekender Festival, the brainchild of the iconic Dub Pistols, makes its highly anticipated return to Vicarage Farm in Winchester this September! Running from 11th to 13th September, this year’s festival promises an unforgettable experience, blending world-class music, vibrant creativity, and the much-loved Dead Famous fancy dress theme.

As festival founders and global dance music legends, the Dub Pistols have once again curated a lineup that reflects their passion for music, connection, and pure energy. Barry Ashworth, frontman of the Dub Pistols, sums up the festival’s unique vibe:

“Everyone’s a star at Mucky Weekender. I’m a strong believer that the crowd are just as important as the performers. Everyone has a smile on their face and are full of love. It’s the kind of festival you could go to alone and leave with 1,000 new friends.”

This ethos is at the heart of the festival, ensuring a weekend that’s not just about music but about creating lifelong memories.

The iconic Groove Armada leads the charge, whose timeless hits and electrifying performances have made them global favourites. Joining them is the reggae and sound system master David Rodigan, bringing his trademark energy and passion to the festival.

Festival-goers can also look forward to groundbreaking sets from The Orb, Phil Hartnoll (Orbital DJ), and jungle pioneers Fabio & Grooverider, as well as high-energy performances from Stanton Warriors, Plump DJs, Krafty Kuts, Jaguar Skills and of course our very own Hobbs & Ron Mexico. With over 60 artists across the weekend, the lineup offers something for everyone, spanning house, reggae, jungle, hip-hop, breaks, and everything in between.

More Than a Festival

This year’s Dead Famous theme invites attendees to honor the legends who’ve inspired us all by stepping into their shoes—literally. From iconic musicians and actors to cultural heroes, the fancy dress vibe will add a unique, playful energy to the festival grounds.

Barry Ashworth is especially excited about the festival’s inclusive and friendly atmosphere, saying,

“Expect the most electric of atmospheres—you can arrive alone and leave with 100 new friends.”

This September, Vicarage Farm will come alive with music, laughter, and stories that will last a lifetime. From the Dub Pistols’ personal touch to the incredible lineup and vibrant theme, Mucky Weekender Festival 2025 is set to be an unforgettable event.

Globally renowned DJ and producer James Hype is taking bold action to breathe new life into the UK’s dance music scene, launching a series of exclusive midweek performances across regional venues. In a time when nightlife is facing unprecedented challenges, James Hype’s initiative is designed to support local communities and reignite the energy of live music events.

Starting at Home in Lincoln and stopping at key venues like Unit Nine in Milton Keynes, Home in Leeds, The Old School House in Hull, Fabric in London, and finishing at Blackstone Warehouse in Liverpool, this tour aims to inject fresh excitement into the midweek nightlife experience. As one of the few global DJs who built his career through the regional club scene, James is keenly aware of the impact that the ongoing closure of UK nightclubs is having on emerging artists and local communities.

According to MixMag, the UK has seen the closure of 65 nightclubs in 2024 alone, with three nightclubs shutting down every week. This troubling trend has raised concerns about the future of the dance music culture and the opportunities available to up-and-coming DJs.

When I started DJing, my first gig was in a nightclub on a Tuesday night. All nightclubs used to be open every day of the week. Even when I wasn’t playing, I was going to gigs myself and I was immersed in this scene, which made me who I am today.

This tour isn’t about making money, it’s about ensuring future generations have the opportunity to make a start in this industry and to give back to the culture that shaped my career as a DJ.”

says James Hype

The tour promises an unforgettable experience at each stop, with tickets selling fast on Skiddle. Fans are urged to act quickly, as these exclusive midweek shows are expected to sell out.

Cardiff lands an all-new and forward-thinking party on Friday 27th September, the result of a collaboration between the city’s innovative Tramshed venue and local big hitters ThisIsVersa and Midi Cartel.

Playing the first event are US garage pioneer Todd Edwards, new school tastemakers Y U QT, and My Nu Leng. Versa Takeover and Midi Cartel join the lineup with their cutting-edge collectives in a night that blends fast-rising local talent with hugely respected international names.

Tramshed has long been leading Cardiff’s scene from the front. The influential live music venue hosts a wide array of shows and parties from world-renowned bands to cutting-edge DJ talent and everything in between.

Located in a Grade II-listed building that was once the old tram depot, it’s an atmospheric space with world-class production. There is no better place for a huge night of quality house, garage, and bass music. Tramshed will deliver top-tier talents for Cardiff’s most-in-the-know crowds while also showcasing some of the city’s best hometown stars.

Leading the charge is Todd Edwards, the US legend who laid down the first blueprint for garage way back in the nineties and remains one of the scene’s most vital innovators with his famously chopped-up and vocal-heavy sound. New school innovators and Midlands pair Y U QT have made a huge impact on the scene with their long line of bass-heavy, smartly sampled and irresistible dance floor bombs on labels like Timeisnow and their own self-titled imprint, so expect a bouncing set full of fresh energy.

My Nu Leng have been shaking up the bass music scene for a decade with their electric sets at the world’s finest venues, killer compilations for the likes of Fabric and tunes on cult labels like Black Butter, Shogun Audio and many more. They can do it all from deeper garage to techno-infused sounds so expect a full spectrum from them.

Also lining up are Cardiff collective Midi Cartel aka Heavy Cream, Selom, MOOD$ and Jellie who have long been pushing the boundaries of electronic music with their fresh and lively blend of bass, rave, breaks, garage, techno, house and more both in the club but also with their popular show on Voices radio.

Completing this mouthwatering first event is ThisIsVersa, Cardiff’s newest bass music label and event series. They are focused on bringing a blend of top European talents and local DJs to their events and will also reflect the sounds of the dancefloor with their label arm. This high-profile collab with Tramshed is surely a statement of intent.

Tramshed will start what could become an all-new chapter in Cardiff’s underground musical adventures from 9pm to 3am on Friday 27th September. Cardiff’s most clued-up clubbers will want to be a part of it from day one.

Essential outdoor dance brand, Under, will return to its unique setting under the Nene Flyover in Peterborough this August with an epic two-day rave.

Saturday 17th August will be staged by the revered east of England club promoter, Mixology, and it lines up the cultured selector East End Dubs, who’ll keep crowds locked in with his stripped-back, distinctive grooves from the worlds of house, garage and tech.

East End Dubs

The Eastenderz label boss and TRMNL regular will be complimented by the hypnotic grooves of SOSA. SOSA’s signature minimal-tech productions have been signed to The Martinez Brother’s imprint Cuttin Headz and Jamie Jones’ legendary Hottrax label. A pioneer of all things minimal, expect a journey of sounds at Under.

Sunday 18th August is hosted by Unitee, the club brand of Radio 1 Drum ‘n’ Bass presenter, Charlie Tee. Ms Tee welcomes to the stage, the ‘Original Nuttah’, Shy FX. From scoring several UK crossover hits while maintaining his underground credibility, few jungle / drum ‘n’ bass artists straddle both ends of the spectrum, like Shy FX does.

The setting of these events makes for no ordinary clubbing experience. The surroundings of the event give it its special vibe – the juxtaposition of concrete and industrial wasteland with the beautiful, scenic landscape of the River Nene and Nene Park off in the distance.

And with the giant graffiti murals of the headline DJs – which tower the height of the bridge – painted by the region’s most reputable artists, JXC, Nathan “Nyces” Murdoch, Gnasher Mural and Hero 32, it’s a true celebration of urban clubbing.

Since its inception as a one-day event in 2021, Under has morphed into a vital dance event that rivals any UK production of its size, staging the world’s hottest talents from Sub Focus to Richy Ahmed and Hannah Wants to Bou.

Powered by a Funktion-One sound system from 12 midday until 10pm, and with a ton of talent yet to be announced, the August Weekender of Under is already shaping up to be one of the most in-demand daytime club tickets this summer.

In less than a month, Barking Park in East London is set to light up with the debut of High Lights, a brand-new three-day electronic music festival with a serious design edge. From Friday 31st May to Sunday 2nd June, High Lights promises a stellar lineup of DJs and live acts, with none other than Carl Cox leading the charge on Saturday 1st June the only London festival gig he’ll be rocking this summer.

Already, over 60% of tickets have flown off the shelves for this electrifying weekend, boasting performances from experimental techno maestro Max Cooper, house music pioneer Franky Wah, Boiler Room sensation SYREETA, lo-fi house trailblazer Ross From Friends, party-starting virtuoso Dan Shake, and a whole lot more.

On Sunday, June 2nd, High Lights welcomes back FUSE: Open Air, featuring founder Enzo Siragusa curating FUSE‘s most extensive lineup of selectors and live acts in London since the closure of Tobacco Dock in 2022. The day will be filled with sets from Dr. Banana, making his FUSE debut, alongside Chris Stussy, Sweely (live), Josh Baker, and FUSE regular Traumer, who will be joined by Apollonia’s Shonky for a highly anticipated B2B set, much requested by fans.

“In the current climate of uncertainty, we can assure our customers that High Lights is going ahead” explains Fred Letts, co-founder of Percolate Music and High Lights. “We can’t wait to start our new venture and we have exciting long term plans for bringing innovative music events to Barking Park site”

But it’s not just about the beats; High Lights promises a feast for the eyes too, with bespoke architectural installations courtesy of Lucid Creates, the brains behind some of the UK’s most iconic event stages.

Lucid describes the design as a massive overhead installation sporting a brutalist, concrete facade. Complete with all the high-tech visuals we’ve grown accustomed to from the studio responsible for some of the UK’s grandest stages, including the mammoth Runway Stage at Creamfields Festival.

Carl Cox

Carl Cox, hailed as one of the most charismatic DJs around, is thrilled to headline High Lights. “I’m really looking forward to bringing my signature sound to the stage at the all new ‘High Lights’ festival this Summer.” Carl explains. “You can catch me on Saturday 1st June. I’ll see you on the dance floor! Oh yes!!”.

Sharing the stage with Carl Cox on Saturday, June 1st, is none other than scene veteran Franky Wah. With a storied career as both a producer and DJ, Franky has cemented himself as one of the industry’s most dependable and talented figures, racking up millions of streams and commanding stages worldwide. Known for DJ essentials like ‘Under The Sun’ and ‘Alive’, Franky effortlessly blends club-ready beats with raw emotional depth, earning praise from the likes of Tale of Us, Solomon, Tiësto, and even Carl Cox himself.

Resident DJ at HE.SHE.THEY., SYREETA possesses an unparalleled knack for tuning into the energy of the crowd. Her sets, infused with chunky basslines and melodic grooves drawn from the realms of house and techno, have ignited dance floors globally, with mixes and streams featured on top platforms like BBC Radio 1, XTRA, HOR, Mixmag, and more. From legendary parties like Music On and Paradise to festivals such as Creamfields and Lost Village, SYREETA has shared stages with the crème de la crème of dance music, including the legendary Carl Cox.

When you choose a name like Dan Shake, you better bring your A-game. With a relentless tour schedule and tracks finding their way into the playlists of countless established DJ icons, Shake lives up to the hype. His passion for groove—spanning from lively acid beats to Brazilian samba, funky rhythms to thumping house—fuels his mission to get everyone around him moving.
