Fankee, the world’s first community-driven music label, is taking the music world by storm. Launched this October by Italian entrepreneurs Giacomo Pellegrini and Dario Pozzi, Fankee is redefining what it means to be a music fan.

Forget just listening – with Fankee, fans become co-owners, investors, and promoters of the music they love. Imagine turning your passion into an asset and being part of a song’s success from the ground up.

This isn’t just about streaming or sharing on socials. Fankee’s fans have skin in the game – earning royalties and influencing which tracks get that magic push into the spotlight. And it’s working.

During its soft launch, Fankee’s first 15-track contest saw songs hit 350,000 streams and rack up 30 million social media interactions. In a second contest, 32 tracks pulled in 500,000 streams in just three weeks!

“Who rules social media? The community,” says Pellegrini.

“Fankee lets fans turn that power into ownership. They’re not just making hits; they’re part of them.”

With roots in EDM, co-founder Pozzi adds, “Fankee gives every fan the chance to help transform a track into a hit they can actually own.”

This is the future of music – a collaborative space where artists and fans build each track’s success together. Think of it as the Y Combinator for music, where the next big act gets a real chance, backed by fans who believe in their sound.

Danish audio company AIAIAI is extending its commitment to the music community by launching a sponsorship program, through which individuals, collectives and organisations can apply to receive support in the form of funding or products.

This program builds on many years of AIAIAI centering creators in their work, through ongoing access to tools and opportunities. With this program, AIAIAI further enables creators to simply make music by removing barriers that are found when trying to access resources.

aiaiai

The AIAIAI sponsorship program is designed for individuals seeking support for their music creation journey, or projects with a mission to facilitate music inspiration or education.

Artists, music creators, event producers, educational institutions, or other music-related projects can apply through the online portal. Thereafter, applications are carefully reviewed by AIAIAI staff, and granted if they are found to be aligned with the mission and criteria for the project

Since its inception, AIAIAI has prioritized empowering creators to bolster the health of the community. This includes equipping thousands of DJs, producers, writers, singers, music schools and grassroots communities with free headphones and studio monitors, to increase access to professional audio equipment and remove barriers in the creative process for music makers of all levels.

AIAIAI has also funded initiatives like global contests for music makers and DJs, enabling winners to receive one-on-one feedback from professionals in their field, play sought-after DJ slots and get a leg up on their creative journey.

Applicants can apply via the online portal, here: https://aiaiai.audio/sponsorships

AFEM is thrilled to announce a significant expansion of its leadership team.

This strategic move is designed to bolster the association’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and continued growth. The newly appointed leadership brings a wealth of diverse perspectives, helping the association better serve its broad membership base.

Georgia Taglietti and Jay Ahern will be joining Finlay Johnson as a leadership triumvirate following a management restructure of The Association For Electronic Music. Georgia Taglietti will be joining AFEM as Culture and Campaigns Manager, Jay Ahern joins as Chief Growth Officer with Finlay Johnson in a newly created Chief Operating Officer position.

With the new restructure, AFEM is poised to pursue an ambitious vision for the future. The association is committed to innovating practices, providing valuable resources to members, and fostering collaboration within the community.

Co-founders and chairs Ben Turner and Kurosh Nasseri commentThis feels like a coming of age moment for AFEM. As we hit our 11th year, it’s fitting to see the management team grow to seven people of a wide range of experience, skillset, background and diversity. There has never been a more important time for AFEM to stand taller and this feels like the right team formation to help guide and advance the genre ahead.

The newly appointed Chief Operating Officer, Finlay Johnson, spent ten years in multiple venue production, artist liaison and curatorial roles at the world’s largest arts festival, the Edinburgh International Festival Fringe.  Before becoming a live agent at WME, represented DJs and live acts from underground clubs to festivals to arena tours. For the past year he has been leading the AFEM transition and will continue to be lead on all AFEM operations.

AFEM

In Finlay’s words: “With over 20 different categories of members making up AFEM, this restructure of our management team ensures that we have different leaders with complementary skills, backgrounds and relationships to benefit all members from multi-national digital service providers, to independent record labels to wellness specialists and charities. They are all intrinsic parts of our electronic ecosystem but with very different business models, and as such we need individual approaches to help build connection and community. Our key focus is commerce, community and culture and with three of us covering these core values I feel confident in the continued growth of our genre globally”.

Georgia Taglietti has been a lynchpin of the international cultural community for 25+ years. As Communications and Digital Director of Sónar Festival since 1995, role she left to create her own company the ICNAC (The International Consulting Network for the Arts and Culture) in 2021, her work created the template for how to build a lasting cultural brand in a rapidly changing marketplace. Georgia will lead the Culture and Campaigns division, leveraging her expertise in networking, communicating and auditing the zeitgeist in order to support the association and its executive board in making strategic decisions, fostering sustainable growth, and ensuring the organization’s long-term vision.

“I am excited to join the board of AFEM as Culture and Campaigns Manager working hand in hand with Jay Ahern and Finlay Johnson.” Georgia states. “It is an honor and privilege to join the association in their mission to connect, and represent the common interests of, those companies and individuals whose business is Electronic Music. I hope to contribute with my skills and experience to expand the organization’s goals and strengthen the ties with all individuals and companies which can contribute to protect, grow, diversify and elevate the role electronic music has in current society”.

Jay Ahern is a Senior Manager who, over the past two decades, has supervised the growth and development of established industry brands, launched new sample-based instruments, developed game-changing platforms, while ultimately remaining at the cutting edge of future technologies, artist management, and musical creativity. His career highlights include PIAS Recordings, Domino Records, Beatport, Hard Wax, then pivoting to creator tool development for Native Instruments and LANDR. He also leveraged Generative AI teams for music content creation and Analytical AI for music recommendation, tagging and search. His work has connected him with some of the industry’s most prestigious talents, including Four Tet, Arctic Monkeys, Richie Hawtin, Moby, and countless others and as a music producer, he has released countless records, and played across the world in many clubs in Europe, Japan, and North America.

Jay Ahern joins AFEM as Chief Growth Officer, in charge, among other tasks, of financial restructuring, long term membership growth & sustainability. “It is an absolute career highlight to be given the opportunity to offer my unique set of professional experiences and insights across music and technology to AFEM. To further growth, dialogue and the collective goals of our diverse and global membership encompassing Electronic Music culture, commerce and community. It is a privilege to work alongside Georgia, Finlay and team, our co-founders Ben and Kurosh, Executive board and membership”

AFEM is an independent, not-for-profit, democratically run global trade association.

Brighton Music Conference (BMC), the UK’s foremost electronic music and networking event will host its 10th Anniversary edition from 24th to 26th May 2023 at the prestigious Brighton i360 beachfront complex.

The first full edition on BMC after the pandemic in 2022 focused on getting ‘back to the music’ and the 10th anniversary edition will focus on the importance of communities with Bristol Night Time Economy Advisor, Carly Heath summing it up perfectly in her talk last year stating that “Nightlife is where communities happen”.

The concept for the event came from the idea that the UK is a world leader when it comes to electronic music, but didn’t have its own electronic music industry conference and so in 2014 BMC was born. Starting life at the Brighton Dome the conference has grown into the leading event for electronic music in the UK with thousands of people attending and over 250 industry professionals taking part in events, panels and workshops over the three days each year, plus exclusive pod parties on the i360 observation tower, the Label Lounge A&R sessions and numerous networking events at some of Brighton’s best-loved venues to meet colleagues and make new connections. BMC was also awarded by the NTIA at the  Ambassadors of the Night Awards 2019 for their work and commitment to developing awareness and education of the UK Electronic Music Scene internationally within the NTE.

“When I started in the industry we didn’t have anything like BMC to help people with their careers and we wanted to create an event that everyone can enjoy and a place for the industry to come together. We are all part of the same tribe, the same family and everyone can come together at BMC to learn, be inspired, network and enjoy amazing music and DJ sets.”

BMC Founder Billy Mauseth explains:

BMC’s vision is to create the most informative learning platform and networking opportunities to form new business relationships and collaborations for professionals and enthusiasts in the electronic music industry through various talks, seminars, workshops, networking events and gigs. BMC 2023 will once again present a full programme of panels, Q&As, workshops and networking events which will take place over three days from 24th to 26th May 2023. More info on speakers and artists coming soon.

BMC launch with a limited number of ‘Golden tickets’ and are NOW on sale for BMC23 for just £99 + b/f from the BMC website: www.brightonmusicconference.co.uk

Following the news of their early-access Future Pass arriving on July 29th, innovative Ibiza-based music and arts platform OpenLab today announces a very special set of art x music collaborative NFTs.

The project is the first initiative with TokenTraxx and it brings together cutting-edge music talent with some of the most exciting names in visual art to create new and highly collectible audio-visual works.

The project, called ’New Mycelium Network’, is inspired by the networked roots of fungi and takes collaboration as a jumping-off point for imaginative and creative departures in difficult times. On 29 July, a highly limited number of OpenLab Future Passes will be made available through TokenTraxx for early access to this exclusive NFT drop.

This is the first of many ambitious cross-platform creative collaborations between OpenLab and TokenTraxx, which is on a mission to be at the centre of a new independent music and arts creator economy by providing a platform driven by NFTs which supports and financially benefits the whole arts community.

Ellie Pritts creates richly saturated and psychedelic artworks that spellbind her viewers. Her digital practice is a tangled collaboration with AI, old school analogue technology and the latest in coding techniques. A classically trained cellist, we have paired Ellie Pritts with Kate Simko, a classical pianist and composer as well as a DJ and electronic music producer. Originally from Chicago and now based in London, Kate founded LEO – the London Electronic Orchestra, which is an all female fusion of classical and electronic music. Kate is currently teaching electronic music at The Royal College of Music and yet still found time to collaborate on electronic music productions with esteemed producers Seth Troxler and Jamie Jones.

Saeko Ehara X Xiaolin

Japanese digital artist Saeko Ehara is the Queen of all that sparkles. Bringing her fascination with glitter to digital art, her practice spans NFTs and generative video. As a VJ, her incredible immersive installations respond in real time to the music playing alongside them. In tune with the sound, Saeko generates enchanting organic patterns that create a euphoric experience. Her NFTs are lauded for their intense detail and coveted for their fantasy feel. Saeko will be working with Xiaolin (Olivia Xiaolin) – a producer, sound explorer, DJ and instrumentalist from Hong Kong. Xiaolin has an impressively wide sonic spectrum that includes jazz fusion, acid house, dreamy synths and organic breaks. She attained a double master’s degree in jazz and music technology at Berklee College of Music.

LimeWire, a digital collectables marketplace, has announced a first-of-its-kind partnership with legendary Ibiza clubs Ushuaïa & Hï Ibiza, giving LimeWire Original holders exclusive access to yet another series of in-person experiences.

Offering free club entry as well as an exclusive launch party invite, this partnership will see LimeWire NFT collectors benefit from even more incredible perks through the purchase of LimeWire Original NFTs.

Having recently launched, LimeWire’s latest partnership with club giants Ushuaïa & Hï Ibiza marks a unique opportunity for digital collectors to gain even more value from being part of the LimeWire community. By purchasing one of the LimeWire Originals – a limited collection of 10,000 Original NFTs – collectors will automatically gain free entry into both legendary Ibizia clubs, Ushuaïa & Hï Ibiza for the entirety of 2022.

elrow ushuaia

LimeWire Original owners will be able to experience Ibiza’s number one outdoor club – Ushuaïa – and enjoy performances from New King of Reggaeton Ozuna and GRAMMY-nominated DJ Snake who are set to headline the event. Voted by DJ Mag as the world’s number one club, LimeWire Original owners will experience a unique combination of Latin music & EDM stars in a perfect open-air setting with the club’s famously high-tech and high-spec production.

Ushuaïa is an iconic Ibiza outdoor space and Hï has just been voted the number one club in the world. Providing our LimeWire Original holders with exclusive access during this first full season since the pandemic sets the benchmark for the types of real-life experiences we intend to unlock for our customers. This is the first of many LimeWire partnerships, which will bring NFT music experiences to life – beyond just visual art.

Paul and Julian Zehetmayr, LimeWire Co-CEOs, commented:

The NFT collectible space is a market we have been wanting to enter but we were looking for the right experience to offer our guests with the right partner. The exclusive access for LimeWire Original holders ticks all the boxes – not only is LimeWire a brand that historically holds strong music ties but the upcoming artist content is unlike anything we have seen so far.

Yann Pissenem, CEO and founder of The Night League, which owns and operates Hï Ibiza and Ushuaïa Ibiza added:

Also, as part of this partnership, subscribers to Ushuaïa’s newsletter will receive an exclusive invite to purchase a LimeWire Original and join a community of like-minded collectors who all benefit from unique experiences.

To celebrate the partnership, a launch party has been organised in Ushuaïa with a dedicated VIP area for LimeWire Original Holders including an open bar from 7pm until 12am.

Launched in June, LimeWire Originals is a limited collection of 10,000 original NFTs minted on the Ethereum blockchain, featuring 10,000 unique and rare avatars with a variety of traits and attributes. Owning a LimeWire Original represents the highest level of membership the LimeWire community has to offer. Ownership offers access to a series of exclusive perks and experiences such as regular invite-only, physical LimeWire events across the world featuring performances by artists on LimeWire, early access to high-profile NFT collections, access to limited merch collections, as well as rewards of the LMWR token due to launch later this year on the platform.

As it continues to revolutionise the event ticketing industry, SeatlabNFT today announces their £1,000,000 SeatlabNFT Event Creator Fund to help artists and event organisers with the cost of running live events.

These non-repayable grants are open to applications from events and festivals worldwide. Successful applicants will receive their grants in instalments, becoming a SeatlabNFT sponsored event and official ticketing client in the process, giving them wider exposure on the world stage.

There is no minimum or maximum amount associated with the grant as different events have varied capital requirements. Grants can be used towards the many upfront costs associated with running a live event, such as venue deposits, artist booking fees and marketing campaigns, leaving organisers to focus on doing what they do best: putting on unforgettable shows.

Ryan Kenny, Director of Seatlab says ‘We’re excited to announce the SeatlabNFT Event Creator Fund, which we hope will provide organisers around the world with the financial injection needed to allow them to try out and embrace our event ticketing technology at their events! We’re looking to work with a wide range of events, so we encourage everybody who will benefit to apply’

Applications can be made via seatlabnft.com and will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. Applicants will be asked to provide detailed information about their event, including any venue contracts and artist agreements. SeatlabNFT also looks at the applicant’s experience of running successful events, the social media following of relevant stakeholders, and anything else that will help them better understand the event’s viability. Lastly, applicants will need to outline the grant size they’re requesting and how they will allocate funds. SeatlabNFT will internally assess applications and make a decision within a few weeks.

Successful applicants will receive their grants in instalments, unlocking the next payment when they reach a significant milestone. Although each grant is assessed on a case-by-case basis, typical milestones are:

  • Sign-on bonus
  • When tickets go on sale
  • 50% of tickets sold
  • 100% of tickets sold
  • Day of the event

This Event Creator Fund is the next big step for SeatlabNFT, who have already developed a game-changing, NFT-powered event ticketing system that artists and event organisers can utilise to regain control of the secondary market, prevent counterfeiting, and bring fans and artists closer together through exclusive rewards and collectibles.

Beatport announced today that they will host the first-ever ReConnect Summit in Brooklyn, NY this September 21st and 22nd.

The two-day event centred around electronic music culture will feature intimate conversations with leaders from the business and artistic communities covering creative innovation, technology, Web 3.0, health & wellness and many more.

Audius and PIXELYNX will help curate the Web 3.0 and crypto curriculum, while The Art of Areté, DanceSafe, and Women in Music will be involved in health, wellness and diversity-focused programming with The Art of Areté hosting immersive experiences.

ReConnect Summit will take place at 74 Wythe, a 15,000-square-foot venue located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. After attending speaker and networking sessions during the day, conference-goers will enjoy exclusive live performances from the world’s top DJs at night.

“The challenges of the pandemic and the response from our global community have exhibited just how vibrant and resilient our culture is,” said Robb McDaniels, CEO of The Beatport Group. “ReConnect was born out of the pandemic as an effort to help keep our community thriving, and now that we’re starting to gather again we thought that bringing together executives, artists and fans of dance music and DJ culture would be a powerful way to reconnect.”

ReConnect was launched by Beatport in March of 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic brought the world to a halt. With the goal of bringing the greater music community, as well as charities together during unprecedented times, ReConnect aimed to connect people while benefiting important causes. Since its March 2020 inception, ReConnect has hosted two multi-hour live events benefiting those affected by COVID-19, raising over $260,000 across the two outstanding streams. Later that same year, Beatport ReConnect hosted For Beirut, an initiative geared towards raising funds to support those in Lebanon affected by the Beirut explosion, and for You Are Not Alone, a mental health organization.. Over the course of its existence, Beatport’s ReConnect series has raised more than $800,000 for charities across the globe.

“It is our hope that extending and transforming the ReConnect concept into an annual place to exchange ideas about our business, resonates with our community in New York and the U.S. in general,” said Ed Hill Senior Vice President of Beatport Media Group. “This is a hugely important market for the music that we all love so much.”

“Women in Music is delighted to be involved in Beatport’s ReConnect Summit NY to offer diverse programming and connect with partners in the dance music and music-tech space,” said Nicole Barsalona, President of Women in Music. “It’s also a great opportunity for our WIM NYC chapter to gather, learn, and make new meaningful connections in the wider community.”

Visit https://reconnect.beatport.com/ to pre-register for ReConnect Summit to be notified when tickets go on sale later this month.
