Steve Darko returns to Box of Cats with ‘Shake That’ EP

Share

Steve Darko is one of the latest up-and-coming producers championing the underground house scene. By way of Boston, this producer, multi-instrumentalist and DJ also develops music production software at leading audio technology company iZotope. He is a dangerous force to be reckoned with in the studio and with an arsenal of production techniques and knowledge, it’s clear he’s one to watch out for.

He returns to Box of Cats with his ‘Shake That’ EP, featuring two originals. It also features a remix from Astronomar, Turning ‘Shake That’ into a techno anthem!

The label says “The neighbour’s dog is barking again, and it jolts you awake. You check your phone for the time and find an email from someone which sparks enough intrigue to encourage a deeper read. A few words in you’re already upright in bed hitting ‘reply’. You hit ‘send’ and before you know it you’re horizontal again, but you just can’t get back to sleep because what you just replied to was a fire new demo.

Being part of the Box of Cats family for quite some time, it was great to receive some fresh solo material from none other than Steve Darko! The man famous for fur coats, beautiful women, rich arpeggiators and eel-like features had just delivered some absolute gems to us.”

Our premiere ‘Shake That’ is a step away from Steve’s typical dark synth structure. It finds itself grooving along with a deep vocal loop, reassuring everyone to ‘Shake What Yo Momma Gave Ya’. This EP is another reason why we here at Box of Cats put Steve up on a pedestal that stands high up in the world of house music. Thanks for the music!
