Mike and Danny Parton deliver French-Touch-Inspired Grooves on ‘Jolene 02’

Share

The Parton brothers, Mike and Danny, are back with their second split EP, Jolene 02, on their own Jolene Records. Following the success of their debut, this release continues to draw inspiration from French touch, ’90s house, disco, and funk, offering four timeless jams packed with infectious grooves and celebratory vibes.

Danny opens the EP with Orange Juice, a peak-time house anthem that engulfs listeners in a wall of swirling vocals, sharp percussion, and textured chords. It’s a track designed to raise hands and pulses alike. Next, Hotspot brings funky energy with its loopy drums, blasting horn stabs, and impassioned vocal cries, all kept dynamic with smart filter play.

Mike takes the reins for the second half, starting with Don’t Look My Name, a tribute to ’90s US house with bold drums, loud synths, and steamy vocal samples. It’s a loopy, high-energy cut that channels legends like Armand Van Helden. Closing out the EP, Free As A Bird combines emotional vocal hooks with punchy house funk, bass twangs, and sweeping strings for a euphoric finish.

With Jolene 02, Mike and Danny Parton deliver another masterclass in blending retro influences with a modern edge, proving why Jolene Records is quickly becoming a go-to for sophisticated, artful house music.

Mike and Danny Parton’s Jolene 02 lands on Jolene Records on November 29th, 2024. Pre-order your copy here.
