Animal Crossing unveil Summer Of Love Festival

An abandoned warehouse, the Romanian wizards and a serious set of hosts are the potent cocktail laying out a minimal masterclass this August. Presenting Animal Crossing’s Summer Of Love Festival, Manchester, 21st & 22nd August!
Despite the deep and varied festival circuit we have in the UK, it’s a rare occasion that a lineup makes us choke on our morning coffee and do a celebration dance. But take a look at what’s in store for Animal Crossing’s Summer Of Love in Manchester this August and you might just do the same! Teaming up with Gottwood Festival and Trommel, the two day event set in an abandoned warehouse will host the likes of Praslesh, Priku and Evan Baggs to get Manchester back in swing.
After a second traumatic summer for festival organisers, the thought of returning to the dancefloor seems almost too good to be true. But announcements that the government intends to stick to the lifting of restrictions have got dancing shoes twitching all over the country. We are certainly ready. Having forged a reputation for throwing events in new and unexpected spots, Animal Crossing are shining a light of positivity on the scene with this brave new venture. For the hordes of Ro-Minimal fans in particular, this event looks set to join the likes of Sunwaves, Epizode and UNUM as a pilgrimage to see the masters at work.
On hosting duties with Animal Crossing for the Saturday will be Gottwood, seeing Praslesh, SIT, Sepp and RA+RE resident Ethel all at the helm.
The Sunday sees Apollonia frontman Dyed Soundorom take everyone on a three hour journey before handing over to ARPIAR (Rhadoo, Petre Inspirescu and Raresh). This will be their first return to the city in a decade and they’ll be teaming up with Dreamrec for the occasion to bring visual art to the mix. The Sunday will also see a world first Shonky B2B Traumer set – one for the bucket list for sure!
To round off what is set to be an unbeatable addition to Manchester’s underground event sphere, there will be a street food market hosted by local food gurus Eat MCR. The team have hand picked the who’s who of Manchester street cuisine including the likes of Nells Pizza, The Green Lab and FryBy. And if that’s not enough to get you excited there’s also a record fair and arts and wellness area. It’s also one of the first festivals in the world to accept Bitcoin!
The Animal Crossing team are certainly as excited as we are, and have a clear vision of just how special this one could be:
“This is our moment to reunite, rejoice and celebrate the reopening of the world we love and have missed so dearly. The Summer of Love Festival represents our freedom, our connection, our artistic expression in an environment that has been created bespoke for the two-day music, arts & mindful experience. There is always a positive, always a light to shine brighter. It’s all about the love. We can’t wait to see you in August, let’s dance like we mean it.”
