Renegade Riddims: Albees

Share

Alberto Curci, also known by his alias Albees has played a pivotal role in nurturing and advancing the Drum & Bass scene in Italy since the early 2000s. Throughout his illustrious journey as a DJ, he has graced the decks alongside some of the most influential artists within the genre, sharing his passion for the music and fostering a thriving community of enthusiasts.

More recently, Albees has embarked on an exciting venture into music production, further enriching his already impressive skill set. This evolution has enabled him to explore new creative horizons and bring his unique musical vision to life. A staunch advocate for the warm, nostalgic embrace of dusty vinyl tones, Albees draws profound inspiration from the early funk recordings, mesmerizing breakbeats, and the resonant vibes of 90s hip-hop.

What sets Albees apart is his signature sound, characterized by the mesmerizing rhythm of rolling, organic-feeling drums, seamlessly intertwined with deep and weighty, yet intricately distorted techy basslines. This sonic concoction not only pays homage to the roots of the Drum & Bass movement but also propels it into innovative and exciting directions. In an ever-evolving electronic music landscape, Albees remains a pioneering force, pushing the boundaries of sound and captivating audiences with his distinctive sonic journey.

A few months ago, Albees joined a live A&R feedback session that our head honcho Grahame Farmer did on Twitch with René LaVice and had a track was almost immediately signed to DeVice! You can watch the video below (watch from 28 mins to hear the raw track and see René’s reaction)…

Today Albees joins our Renegade Riddims series with a brand new, exclusive mix! The mix features tracks from the likes of himself, DJ Marky, Klax & Charli Brix, Break, Enei and more!
