Rocky Valente returns to ELEVATE with ‘The Revolution’ EP

Share

Rocky Valente dishes up a three-track EP of varying techno feels on Pig & Dan’s ELEVATE imprint, featuring a high-octane rework from Mark Reeve.

The Amsterdam-based DJ and producer has kicked off 2020 in her signature flamboyant style. Still riding the success of her ‘Rebirth’ EP, which charted at No.3 on Beatport’s techno chart at the end of last year. Rocky let rip a live stream from a palace in her home city of Lisbon, to an ecstatic reception. She plans more shows for other off the wall venues, so watch this space.

For this EP, she strides through the A-side with a 4/4 driving peak time monster entitled ‘The Revolution’. Shuffling hi-hats over a tight, rolling kick drum provide pace while reverberating synths and subtle basslines fill the track right to the roof. ‘Anxiety’ features the dubby soundscapes often associated with deep Berlin dub-techno. The filtering echoes contrast the hard panning of the chord riff, all locked in by her distinctive drum loops.

Mark Reeve remixes the A for our premiere. He provides an up-tempo driver that fills the sonic spectrum with crisp percussive drums and oscillating basslines. The huge melodic lines chime in to bring forward a cavernous breakdown to stop dancers in their tracks before throwing them back into his deep grooves.
