Share
Rik Casado, who produces under the name Kevala, is a rising star in the Drum & Bass scene. Hailing from Madrid and now based in Lisbon, he’s been turning heads with his unique sound and impressive versatility.
Kevala has been releasing tracks under some of the most respected labels in the industry, including Kosen Production, Phase Records DNB, Neuroheadz, Expedite Records, Dialect Audio, Raving Panda Records, Neurofunk, What Else?, and Abyssal Music. Each label reflects a different facet of his musical identity, from the deep, brooding atmospheres of Abyssal Music to the high-energy, cutting-edge sounds of Neuroheadz.
His productions are a sonic journey, pulling influences from a wide range of genres. This diversity is evident in the varied listening experiences he crafts, whether it’s dark, melancholic tones, introspective yet intense vibes, or full-throttle Neurofunk energy. Kevala’s music is defined by its hypnotic drum breaks and intricate storytelling, keeping listeners hooked from the first beat to the last.
Kevala’s hard work and dedication are paying off, with his debut EP, ‘Losing’ which dropped on Phase Records DNB already making waves on Beatport, reaching the Top 10 on the Drum & Bass charts. His tracks are being played by some of the biggest names in the scene, and his reputation is steadily growing.
Whether he’s performing at underground raves in Lisbon or collaborating with other artists, Kevala is constantly pushing the boundaries of his sound. With a string of upcoming releases and performances on the horizon, he’s definitely an artist to watch as he continues to carve out his place in the Drum & Bass world.

Q&A:
Sum up this mix in 10 words…
Lots of my unreleased tracks alongside other tunes I love!
What’s your personal favourite track on it?
Probably Mefjus – ‘Divergence’. Insane production, catchy vocal samples, grooviest percs ever, and it goes well with virtually any other tune!
What’s the special ingredient in this mix?
More than half of the tracks in there are mine! Including a looot of unreleased, some of them collaborations with amazing artists I’ve been lucky to work with lately.
It has been very exciting to include so much of my music and to mix it with some of my favourite tunes out there.
I crafted the mix with a storytelling mindset, letting the tracks flow together while keeping a high energy throughout.
Tell us about your next EP…
My next EP, ‘Closure’, comes out in October on Kosen Production, and it features some of my darkest work up to date. I love this label and the music they put out, and I’m reaaally excited about my first release with them! I hope you like it!
What have you got coming up?
Before that EP, I have a track coming out on Dialect Audio this Friday! And some more music in September on Phase Records (all of them included in this mix!). Follow @kevalamusic to stay up to date with all of it!
When was the last time you actually raved?
I recently came back from Hospitality on the Beach, absolutely loved the festival! Amazing place, sets and vibes overall. I had a great time there!
And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?
Thank you so so much for listening to this mix! And thanks for ever listening to my music, coming to my shows, interacting with my content, or supporting me in any other way. It means everything to me! I hope you enjoy the mix and I hope you’re having a beautiful day 🧡
