Renegade Riddims: Mr Skandal

Share

Mr. Skandal is a 38-year-old DJ hailing from the vibrant town of Leighton Buzzard. His love for Drum & Bass began at just 15, when he started spinning tracks on a pair of Numark belt drives. Now, with years of experience behind him, he’s mastered a modern four-CDJ setup that takes his mixes to another level. Growing up near The Sanctuary, he had the privilege of witnessing iconic Drum & Bass performances, which sparked a passion that’s never left him.

Drum & Bass isn’t just a genre for Mr. Skandal—it’s a way of life. While he’s primarily known for his DJ and production skills, he’s no stranger to grabbing the mic and dropping bars when the energy is right. His early years were spent mixing for fun with friends, but things shifted when a couple of his tracks were signed to Xplicit Project Records. That moment fueled his ambition to take his music beyond his circle and share it with a wider audience.

A major breakthrough came when he entered a mix competition for Hidden Festival, hosted by Data Transmission and local brand On The Decks (OTD). Tying for first place was a pivotal moment, confirming that his passion and skills were on the right path. That experience served as both a confidence boost and a stepping stone to greater things.

Since then, Mr. Skandal has been tirelessly perfecting his craft, dedicating countless hours to refining his sound and stage presence. His hard work paid off with a performance at Unit Nine in Milton Keynes, a venue renowned for showcasing up-and-coming talent. But the highlight of his career so far will be supporting the legendary DJ Fresh at the same venue—proof that relentless dedication and a love for Drum & Bass can take you places.

Mr. Skandal’s style is all about high-energy, rolling Drum & Bass with deep basslines and sharp breaks. He prides himself on his ability to read the crowd and take them on a journey, blending classic tracks with fresh, cutting-edge sounds. His versatility as both a DJ and a producer means that his sets are never predictable; each performance is a unique experience tailored to the vibe of the night.

With a future full of exciting prospects, Mr. Skandal shows no signs of slowing down. He’s always experimenting with new sounds and techniques, pushing the boundaries of his craft. The journey is far from over, and as his following continues to grow, there’s no doubt that the best is yet to come. Stay tuned, because the future belongs to Mr. Skandal and his relentless pursuit of Drum & Bass excellence.

Sum up this mix in 10 words…

Adrenaline fuelled mix, drawing from the full spectrum of DnB

What’s your personal favourite track in the mix

My personal favourite track in the mix must be “Rave to Love” by Venjet. This track perfectly captures everything I love about Drum and Bass—the energy, the rhythm, and the sheer euphoria it brings. It’s a real crowd-pleaser and never fails to get everyone moving.

What’s the special ingredient in this mix?

The special ingredient in this mix is undoubtedly my passion for Drum and Bass. Every beat, every drop, and every transition are infused with my love for the genre. Plus, I’ve sprinkled in some of my own tracks and, of course, my signature heavy double drops. It’s a mix that truly represents my style and energy.

Tell us about your next EP…

As much as I’d love to announce a new EP, I’m currently focusing on honing my production skills. I want to ensure that my next release is something truly special. So, no new releases just yet, but stay tuned—great things are on the horizon!

What have you got coming up?

I’m super excited to be supporting the legendary DJ Fresh in Milton Keynes. It’s a huge honor and a fantastic opportunity to share the stage with someone I’ve admired for so long. I can’t wait to bring my A-game and deliver an unforgettable set.

When was the last time you actually raved?

The last time I raved was back in July, and it was an epic old school hardcore night. Nicky Blackmarket going B2B with Sy was something I just couldn’t miss. The atmosphere was electric, and it was a night to remember.

And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?

Absolutely! Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. I hope you enjoy the mix—I guarantee it will get your heart racing and your feet moving. Keep the love for Drum and Bass alive, and always chase those beats!
