London based duo Tough Love have been at the forefront of the house scene for some time now since they started out in 2011. Their distinct production, together with energetic and bass-heavy DJ sets, has created a cult following of hard-core fans across the UK and beyond.

Their sound is instantly recognisable in their production hard-hitting grooves accompanied by crisp drum layers & undeniable danceability. Tough Love strikes the ultimate balance of releasing big dance records whilst still being part of the respected underground scene. Support regularly comes from the dance music tastemakers at BBC Radio 1 & 1Xtra, Kiss & Capital, with massive radio support from big names including Annie Mac, Danny Howard, MistaJam and DJ Target. As well as key features in the likes of Mixmag, DJ mag, Insomniac & Complex to name just a few.

Following dance anthems on Toolroom and Cr2 earlier this year. Our good pals get set to make their debut on Noizu’s Techne label with sizzling new EP ‘Got To Love’ – which we premiered on Data Transmission.

Today, they join us once again on the podcast. Listen to it below, on Mixcloud or iTunes here.

Sum up this podcast in 10 words…
Music to make you all think, feel & dance to.

What’s your personal favourite track on it?
It’s difficult to pick one, but we’re really excited about the new music coming on Get Twisted Next year and we’ve featured 3 forthcoming releases in this mix.

What’s the special ingredient in this mix?
In typical Tough Love fashion, it’s packed full of exclusives from our label and of course ourselves that you won’t hear anywhere else until next year! We love to keep things fresh & usually road test our material in clubland first, but without them open this is a great opportunity for us to see what the Data Transmission family thinks!

Tell us about your next EP?
This one’s built for those low ceilings, surrounded by sweaty walls that carry on into the early hours of the morning. TECHNE felt like the perfect home for them and we’re buzzing that the main man NOIZU wanted to pick them up.

What have you got coming up?
We’ve actually just dropped a new remix with Kaysin on Repopulate Mars for Roger That’s latest release “Penetrate”. We’ve got another single coming on Repopulate early next year, some club cuts with Lo’99 & a brand new single dropping in January which we’re really excited about. On top of that, we’re currently finalising our album which will celebrate 10 years of Tough Love in 2021. This will feature brand new original material and some tasty collabs.

And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?
In such an unstable year for everyone, and a world that feels currently upside down, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your continued support. Thank you for staying engaged & keeping all of us motivated and focused! Keep your heads up, keep your hearts strong & soon we’ll be dancing together all night long. x

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
