Aptly described as “organic dance music for the soul”, emerging UK electronic artist Suncream announces debut EP ‘Ultraviolet’.
Released on Suncream’s own new label Allotment Records, debut EP ‘Ultraviolet’ encapsulates the Yorkshire (UK) based producer’s signature style; an infectious, sun-kissed sound that has already gained support from BBC Radio 1 & Spotify’s Fresh Finds Dance playlist.
Having previously recorded and toured as a guitarist in bands before making the transition over to electronic dance music, Suncream takes a live and hands-on approach to music production. Honouring the Allotment Records ethos, the 4 track EP was recorded, mixed and mastered in his home studio and is inspired by the life and optimism brought by the sun.
Suncream’s organic style seamlessly blends programmed beats with live instrumentation to breathe life into an otherwise digital environment. Drawing influence from funk and disco records to sculpt a unique palate of sounds, Suncream is able to push boundaries with every release yet retain a wholesome sense of nostalgia and familiarity. Following a simple recipe which utilises live instruments, sampling and old tape machines, Suncream’s lo-fi electronic exploration cooks-up soundscapes build upon deep grooves, uplifting hooks, and ambient textures.
‘Better Days’ (out 12th April) is the lead single from Suncream’s forthcoming EP ‘Ultraviolet’. This track is reminiscent of those special moments; when music and sunshine bring people together. With DJ sets to be announced over the summer months, this slice of euphoria was written with the dance floor in mind. Driven by a dynamic bass and glistening strings, this deep disco earworm is destined to be the soundtrack to the soon approaching warmer, lighter evenings.
